Jackie's First Day

We wake up on the first day, greeted by this marvelous saint of a man. Doc Mitchell didn't have to, but apparently him and a Securitron named Viktor saved me after I was buried alive.

After the Doc checked my mental and physical capabilities, he said I was free to go, and recommended that I speak to Sunny Smiles to learn more about this guy who shot me. I talked to her briefly in the Prospector Saloon, where she told me that he was working with some Khan members. I headed out soon after to the town of Primm, following the trail of my killer.

I arrived in Primm pretty quickly, although well after dark. As soon as I entered, a guy claiming to be an NCR soldier told me of some bad news. The town was occupied by some escaped prisoners calling themselves the "Powder Gangers." This gang was not helping me out, so clearly I had to get rid of them. I stopped by in a building in the town to find a bunch of the citizens hiding from the gang. One of them, Johnson Nash, lets me know that they've kidnapped the deputy of this town, Deputy Beagle. I'm not sure why they would have a beagle as a deputy but I'm not one to judge.

Only after clearing out the bandits did I learn that Deputy Beagle is not a dog, but in fact a man. A shocking revalation.

Unfortunately, he seemed to have the qualifications of one. He was absolutely no help in dispatching the rest of the gangsters; He resorted to fleeing to safety instead. I question if I could make a beagle the new deputy at this point. Regardless, I continue on.

I get some unfortunate news soon after. The checkered man isn't in this town. Deputy Beagle tells me that he moved on to Nipton, a town further south. I would have headed in that direction, but I found myself weak to sad looking men. Deputy Beagle is very good at looking sad.

With some reluctance, I accepted their request to find them a new Sheriff, although I do rest my feet a little among the citizens of Primm.

I wonder if I could make that robot the new Sheriff instead...
